UNWTO Scholars
The UNWTO Scholars programme is aimed at providing scholarship assistance for officials with competence in tourism from UNWTO Member States (in certain cases also educators) nominated by their central Tourism Administration.
These courses are held at UNWTO.TedQual Certified education institutions (universities, business schools, institutes, etc.) through the financial assistance provided by Governments, such as Italy, Mexico, Argentina, Spain. As well as UNWTO.TedQual Institutions, i.e. The University of the Balearic Islands, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Open University of Catalunya, The Polytechnic University of Valencia, The University of Hawaii, The University of Quebec at Montreal, and The University of Queensland.
Courses which have been held under the UNWTO.Scholars programme include: the GTAT.TPS Post Graduate Course, the UNWTO TedQual Managing for Quality in Education, the UNWTO.GTAT.TPS-CTP Intensive Course on Tourism Policy and Strategy: The Creation of Tourism Products, The UNWTO.Sbest Course on Destination Management, as well as others.
Courses available under this programme are routinely posted on the UNWTO.EKM Web Site and candidates are invited to submit their completed application forms as well as a letter of nomination from the appropriate Government official (Minister of Tourism, Deputy-Minister, Director of Tourism).
Candidates are selected on the basis of professional qualifications, regional distribution, letter of intention, etc. Certain full and partial scholarships are available only to certain regions, depending on the donor Government, or only to developing countries..
